Maddow on MSNBC - kicking ass and taking names

And yet, today McCain is ahead in the polls.

     . . . ?

McCain is ahead in SOME polls, but national polls are meaningless. Today even more so than in the past. Since polling is done via phone, the number of respondents is getting lower & lower each year. Too many people either use cell phones exclusively or everyone in the home works--who's left to answer a land line, assuming they even have one anymore? Senior citizens & housewives. Not the 18-35 demographic who are overwhelmingly for Obama.

Anyway, if you're going to watch polls, watch the Electoral Maps. There are a number of them out there, ALL of which are showing Obama with a significant lead. Even by Karl Rove's most conservative (pun unintended) estimates, Obama has 260, McCain has 194, with 84 votes undecided (last updated 9/4/08):

Another one which is completely independent & updated daily, has Obama at 281 vs. McCain's 230, with 27 votes tied.
