Thoughtware.tv has part 1 of the BBC three part series hosted by Dr Michio Kaku.
I suggest watching it, mulling it over and then watching it again.
I don't agree with some of the time lines he puts forward, a lot of this stuff looks much closer to me than he seems to think it is - but that is, after all, almost entirely beside the point.
